The ELCA Youth Gathering, a unique community by size and scope, exists to accompany young people in their faith journey, to claim their baptismal identity and articulate their faith in Jesus Christ.
Volunteer.
The ELCA National Youth Gathering in Minneapolis 2022 will open the online application process in May 2021 for adult Volunteers for an expenses-covered week of training and service to make it a fantastic event for over 30,000 attendees engaged in Service, Community and Learning.
Who Can Volunteer?
There are (2) overall volunteer roles:
Gathering Volunteer Corps (GVC)
GVC applications will open online May 22, 2021. Applications close July 22, 2021. Minimum age (by June 29, 2022) to be a GVC adult volunteer is 19 or at least 1 year since graduating high school.
Servant Companion applications will open online November 22, 2021.
Applications closes January 22, 2022. Note: for Servant Companions, the age range is limited to 20–30 years old by June 29, 2022.
What it Means.
A previous gathering: the local New Orleans assistance organizations reported the Gathering accomplished in 3 days what would have taken them 3 years—about 1000 to 1!
Details.
The ELCA will cover costs for lodging, meals, training, local transportation, and provide a travel stipend to and from Minneapolis for accepted volunteers. Calvary will also provide up to an additional $200 to offset any basic travel costs not covered by the ELCA stipend.
Accepted volunteers would arrive in Minneapolis on Friday, July 22, 2022 for training ahead of the multi-day gathering, and return Thursday, July 28, 2022 when the gathering concludes..
